Six San Francisco Opera productions have been taped for telecast and/or videocassette since Mansouri assumed his role as general director-Mefistofele and Orlando Furioso (1989), Capriccio and Turandot (1993), The Dangerous Liaisons (1994) and A Streetcar Named Desire (1998)-taking San Francisco Opera into literally millions of homes. His production of La Gioconda in 1979 was the Company's first to receive a live international telecast.
